Year 6 – Turing
Our class is named after Alan Turing, who was an English Mathematician, Computer Scientist and Cryptanalysist, and designed methods which were instrumental in breaking German naval codes during World War 2. In 1952, Turing was charged with being homosexual and used his position to advocate rights for gay people. Turing was pardoned in 2013, although he died in 1954, and in 2017, the ‘Turing Law’ was passed which pardoned men who, like Turing, had been convicted.
